Frequently Asked Questions

Q: My wheels are powder coated. Can they be repaired?

A: Yes. Most wheels are powder coated from the manufacturer.

Q: What is the difference between powder coat and paint?

A: Simply put, the way it is applied. Wet paint requires training and skill to apply properly. Powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid form. The coating is applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat. In high volume manufacturing facilities it is much more cost effective to apply powder coat than to "wet paint". In the end, the liquid paint finish is as durable and long lasting as a powder coated wheel.

Q: Can my wheel crack when straightening?

A: Yes. While it is rare, around 3% of wheels crack during the straightening process. Should this happen, we have several options for repair or replacement.

Q: Is my straightened wheel more likely to bend or crack?

A: No.

Q: Are your repairs warranted?

A: Yes, We offer a limited warranty. We will deliver a wheel that runs straight within specifications, balances with a quality tire and has no air leaks. If we are unable to repair your wheel you will not be charged.

Q: How soon can I drive the car after the repair?

A: Immediatly after the the wheels are installed on your car.

Q: Are there wheels that cannot be straightened?

A: Yes, Wheels that are severely bent in the center (lateral bend) are not candidates for straightening. The significant pressure (measured in tons) required to straighten the wheel center can damage the overall integrity of the wheel and is not recommended. In some cases a wheel that is subject to a radial impact, such as pot hole or running over an object, results in the wheel center being pulled rather than bent. Wheels that have cracks in their spokes are also not candidates for repair. While Chrome plated wheels can be repaired, the plating process used by most manufacturers can cause Hydrogen embrittlement. As a result, the wheel might be susceptible to fracture during the straightening process.
